This world is ever more a world of images. Of appearances. Open to a thousand possible readings. Images upon which we project our most desired meanings, or about which we try to make some sense.
Exploring the world of images and forms, mostly but not exclusively through art works, and trying to read the world through its images is what this site is about. An attempted synthesis of art and cultural history, semiology of art, and when relevant other so-called social sciences.
This site does not intend to propagate any particular doctrine, or world view, although it holds its own opinions on a number of topics. The aim is to walk through the dense forest of meanings, and hope to find a clearing from time to time, thanks to the many bridges which can be built between different fields of knowledge.
